IZZA REIMAO, MASK MAKER

Hannya "no" theatre jealous female demon They originate from a Japanese
story of a beautiful woman, who became so jealous she grew horns.

Máscaras sao tao antigas quanto a Humanidade e

Masks are so old as mankind and is astonishing to know this nice thing: Without them, we will NOT have our Western Civilization like all we known as a recognized culture. At least, not like we really know about it.

A Primate Study Centre in U.S. once, put a fabric bag inside an ape jail and the people wich take care & notes about our funny cousins Chipanzees, drops his mouth down the floor, when one of the Elder Apes fits the bag on his own head, starting a persuade hunter boogie-woogie phantomas like tracking the squealling cubes. Our monkey fellow KNOWS what a mask is and how it works! The other fellows wich know A LOT all of this things was Mr. Charles Robert Darwin... ;)

In this photographic essay, thanks to the blissfull DCC Minox Leica M-3 digital camera, was taken during a meet with my lovely and talented ex-trainee and now a REAL BRAZILIAN ARTIST, Ms. IZZA REIMAO, enlighted by ambient 50W halogens lamps, focusing some of her so beautifull handmade masks in Papiér Machée artistry 100% Handmaded technic.

AFRICAN-ANIMIA MASK

Oras!

Gregos, Romanos, Venezianos, o "nosso Carnaval", emulando

desconhecidos, protegidas no anonimato duma bela máscara.

Aliás, re-inauguro aqui, pretensiosamente a verdadeira e

No matter the Culture was or is, extint or contemprary, all of them ( at least, the regardeds ones ), thinks, made, carves, uses and shows his Masks, througouth the entire planet.

Tuth-Ank-Amon, pure gold maded, what a heel was there???

I can spent 24 hours of my life in front of it, wich explains a lot of the old and unusefull religions of today and from the past...

Aztecks, Mayas, Tolthecks, Kechuas, this ones, with strong simmilarity among Far Eastern masks of Thailand, to name a few, on the other side of the Pacific, wich denotes that so smart saillors visits our South American Coast once...

Greeks, Romans, Venetians, the Brazilian Carnival, an emulation through other realities, with a crowned king and much more...

Beauty and superb rich italians womans laying in sex with strangers, undercovered by a finished handmade mask of a Colombine.

Otherwisew, I will (re)introduce to You, in a very strong pretentiousness manner, the real origin of the Latin word "CARNIVAL", wich all of my life means a "flesh fest" meanning, well... come on! .... You KNOW all what this things and subjects THIS things means... :)

AFRICAN-ANIMIA MASK

Carnival can NOT to be a "Fest of the Flesh", at least, can not, until I was sitted in my studio in '86 watching some beautifull ancient newspaper black & white poorly printed photos taken during a parade on the streets of Sao Sebastiao of the January River ( OK, you win: Rio de Janeiro ) on the year 1910, showing some alegoric cars with nice smilling brazilian people over it, dressing in a Sailor way.

I spent some looooong lasting seconds that I remembered, stuttering myself, you know, that empty space between my ears... when everything comes VERY clear: CARNAVAL is a popular deterioration of the Latin Phrasis CARRUM NAVALIS!!! YUP, fellows, HEUREKA! A VERY NAVY WAGON, INDEED!

Does I am right in this proposal or not? Well, if the Colisevm can be flooded with water to simulate the Naval Combats of Glorious Days...

And if we use A LOT of nauthic therms ( "ship" and the tekkie "on-board", to name a few ) even in a ultramodern Space Shuttle "Ship" to helps us to build our first City On The Skies ( I really want to nominate the ISS, The International Space Station as HEAVEN! ), well, this is some very interesting clues to solve this puzzle of mine.

Yup, I read a lead under the ancient photo of the old nespapaper ( wich texts just exists in my brain, right ? ) the gigantic Times New Roman words, tagging an artifact made it by the Industrial Light & Magic of ancient centuries:

THE CARRVM NAVALIS, wich becomes some day, in the Latin Trail to West, ( ending in, yes, Brazil ), the so called CARNAVAL, New Orleans one of yours, northamericanz, included, pals...

JAGUAR MASK

Sim, CARRVM NAVALIS!
Cultos á Deusas naturais e o Sambao do Crioulo Doido, com
perdao do inevitável trocadilho, ah, eu ía deixa passar ESSE?

dando-lhes subsídios a mancheia.

PANTALONE MASK

O Teatro Moderno e o Cinemáo de Hollywood sao ambos,
fundamentalmente, mascaramentos modernos, humanos

The contemporary Movie, Theatre (of Plays) and "Stars System" is, oh, yes indeed!, all of them is just Maskerades People precisely like and totally equall of the ones on Anciente Times, humans beings, in a life of others humans beings, a littel bit naked, but, oh yes!, MASKERADE ones...

Even myself, fitting the Pantalone, drives myself near the unbelievable, in a real altered state and, come on, is just a piece of paper junk with glue and water.

Uh... what I really say? JUST A PIECE OF PAPER? Hmm
